‘Project Next’ is my blog/journal of accountability
for my next major activity. Originally I had wanted this to serve as a journal for
more technical projects that I was working on, but I found that I didn’t update
it very often because online discussion forums fit my needs better. It seemed
redundant to edit and recount them again.
But with more athletic based projects, I find
the blog style platform to be better. I have been keeping an offline log of my
various workouts diligently for over a year so I can review what I’ve done, see
where I’m improving (or need improvement) and to have a concrete record. This
last item has been important because it keeps me honest when I miss (or skip)
workouts. It’s easy to have a plan, harder to follow it. It's possible I'll move them online here too, or at least put up a weekly digest. If nothing else, it's another way to get disciplined about content.
As for me, I’m a running and OCR enthusiast
(although if you’re reading this, you probably already know that). I also swim
and bike, although triathlons are something I’ve put on the backburner for a
while. The time requirement for training the bike portion is too heavy. (Plus,
in Ottawa, the level of hostility from motorists toward cyclists is about the
same as that between Leafs and Sens fans).
This blog will also probably contain
various musings of mine, the occasional link to interesting stuff, pictures I
like (and/or pictures of yours truly… I apologize in advance) and whatever
other random shit might catch my eye now and then.
Oh.. and I may occasionally swear. It
happens. I won’t go out of my way to do it, but sometimes it’s the best way to
get the point across. Other times it’s just funny.
Aside from that, I’ll be sharing my projects
for 2018 soon. I’ve got one major one to confirm before the “grand reveal”.
